Congratulations to Sir Ringo Starr who has been named a knight!

Ringo was selected for knighthood by the Queen in her 2018 New Year’s Honours list.

He said: ‘It’s great! It’s an honour and a pleasure to be considered and acknowledged for my music and my charity work, both of which I love.’

Sir Ringo was knighted along with Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees and author Michael Morpurgo. Ballet dancer Darcey Bussell was also named a dame.

Ringo picked up the honor two decades after Paul McCartney who was a huge advocate for Ringo to get knighted.
