Want To Buy Freddie Mercury’s Old House? It Only Cost 30 Million Pounds

The house Freddie Mercury loved (and died in) is for sale.

The sellers say they’re open to bids starting at £30-million, which is just over $50-million Canadian.

The house – which Mercury purchased in 1980 in the midst of the success of The Game, Queen’s eighth album – is in an upscale London neighbourhood.

The eight bedroom home was, at one point, filled with “exquisite clutter”, according to Mercury. That included rare pieces of art work and many costumes.

Mercury died of AIDS in 1991, while in the house.

He was 45.

The home has been in the possession of Mary Austin, an ex-girlfriend of Mercury’s, since his death.

“It has been a joy to live in and I have many wonderful memories here. Now that it is empty, I’m transported back to the first time we viewed it. Ever since Freddie and I stepped through the fabled green door, it has been a place of peace, a true artist’s house, and now is the time to entrust that sense of peace to the next person,” Austin said in a statement.
