Did ‘The Simpsons’ get it right again?

The show has been running now for over three-decades and during that time, there have been a few episodes that ended up becoming quite close to real life. They predicted Trump would be elected, smart watches and even the US winning a medal in curling. I joked when all this started asking, “how did this episode turn out on The Simpsons?”  Turns out they did in fact have an episode that comes pretty close to matching what we are going through now.

It’s from 1993, the episode is titled “Marge in Chains” and shows a mysterious virus from Asia invading the town of Springfield. The disease, which originated in Japan, is called the “Osaka Flu” and much like Corona, it spreads like wildfire throughout the town.

So first, you have the pandemic aspect, but while the townspeople are demanding a cure, Dr. Hubert he tells the protesting crowd that the only thing he can offer is a placebo and he recommends bed rest.  Then in come the “Murder hornets!” Wondering where the placebo is, the crowd turns over a truck. Unfortunately, the truck is full of killer bees which immediately start attacking them.

Anyone know any of the writers over there? I think we’d all really like to know if there is anything else we should prepare for!
